New Year...New Post!

Image
I'm not dead, I swear! I actually have a bunch of stuff to share with everyone... so hold on to your hats! First off, one of my newer patterns has been tested. The updated pattern is up on the site. Teddy has also been submitted to Fandom-in-Stitches, so I hope it will be up there soon too. I've also caught the quilting bug myself... though I haven't yet taken the plunge into paper piecing (I know... I know... I will, I promise!) Here are some of my FOs! Two completed jelly roll lap quilts (patterns from my head) and four quilt-as-you-go stocking for my family. I also made myself a nice little shirt. And this mask (out of leather, it was a kit) for Halloween: I also got a nifty Instagram account...not sure how much I'll use it, but it exist. Oh, and this is also happening (but not finished at the time of writing this) If anyone doubts my love of The Nightmare Before Christmas... well, they can see how much I love that movie! So, as you can see, I've been a busy bus...

What Have I Been Up To?

Image
I haven't updated this blog lately, sorry. If you have been around my facebook page, you might have caught a few updates. Shock and Barrel are up on the website. Shock has even been tested, so that is awesome! Adult MacCready has made his appearance on the page! Also, TheNightMotherWrites made a set throw pillows from my Fallout 4 Factions cross stich patterns, which is AMAZING! I've also been plugging away at my scrap quilt. I'm a bit more than half way there (~60/91 scrap block and ~70/91 solid blocks). Of course, I have decided to make a few jelly roll lap quilts once I am done with that... or maybe while I'm working on that because... why not? I'm also thinking about trying the shop function on Ko-Fi to list a pattern (made in EQ, not QA) or two for sale. This is just a trial... I'm not sure how well it will work and I am just in the planning stages at this point. It is something I have wanted to do for ages with my weebly site, but I would have to bump u...

Lots of Updates

Image
I'll try to keep this short, but there are quite a few new things up on the site! First off, I edited the layout (at least if you are not on mobile) so that there isnt as much scrolling involved when searching for a pattern. The pictures are a little bit smaller now, but I think it easier to navigate. Second, I've put up Jacques LaLean and Ginger the Tap Dancing Spider up for the Beetlejuice cartoon blocks. They have a bit more embroidery/outlining than a lot of my other designs (particularly Ginger), but I think that is because of the way they are drawn (ie cartoon). I tried to make them without so much, and they just didn't look right. Also, I put up a Pumpkin from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I based the pattern on a restoration of an actual set piece, so it is pretty darn authentic! It is also a pretty intricate pattern, so if you want a challenge, feel free to try it. You can thank Burton's hate of straight lines for that! It is up for testing, so a...

I'm on a roll!

Image
Let's keep this pattern train rolling with a brand new pattern! Jack is up and ready for everyone to use! The only little bit I wish I could change is being able to use an actual pinstripe texture for the suit bits, but Quilting Assistant does not allow for patterns. Oh well.

Sally...again!

Image
Thank you so much to my wonderfully generous tester who quickly put together my Sally pattern. They suggested a little edit to make the whole thing come together easier, which I have done and put the -new and improved- pattern up on the website. Fiddly bit - BE GONE! I also submitted her to Fandom-in-Stitches . Thank you, again, Sharon! I put these images up in the gallery as well.

Sally

I put up a new Tim Burton quilting pattern today! Welcome to the world, Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas!

My Newest Quilt Pattern: Zero!

Image
I finally finished another one! Zero is now up and ready for the world to enjoy. I hope he come together pretty easily for you if you decide to give him a go! He is such a good boy! I have also reordered my Tim Burton patterns so they are now sorted by movie. I hope this makes them easier to find. Let me know what you think.

Upcoming New Patterns

Image
I am excited to show that I am combining two of my favorite things... making these quilting patterns and the video game Fallout. I decided to try to immortalize my favorite bacon husband companion by making him into a quilting block! I give you the wonderfully charismatic junkie mayor of the great town of Goodneighbor: JOHN HANCOCK! Isn't he just precious? I have this pattern almost done... I just need to convert stuff into PDFs and combine them (for some reason the most tedious step for me). The other one I have coming down the line is Zero from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Who wants to be the first to make this good boy? I still need to write up the instructions for this lovely block, but I hope to get that done soon! I hope you enjoyed my update! -UPDATE- And Hancock is up and ready to be tested!

Stormy's Quilt

Image
I wanted to share this little ray of joy with you. A fellow quilter named Stormy used my Oogie Boogie block in a larger quilt. Isn't it lovely! A huge shout out to Stormy for both using my block and letting me share their work! Much love!

Long Time... New Lydia

Image
I know I haven't been around a lot, but that doesn't mean I have forgotten about this! I just posted a new pattern. Lydia from the Beetlejuice cartoons . She was a huge influence to me growing up. I hope you love her as well.

A Quick Boogie!

Image
Just a real quick blog... Oogie Boogie is now up on Fandom-in-Stitches! Go show him some love!

Duck Toy Tested

Image
The Duck Toy from The Nightmare Before Christmas has been tested... and I will be submitting it for inclusion on the Fandom-in-Stitches site. It is already on display in my tiny gallery , but I want to put out a proper thank you again to Sharon Garner Powell for all her hard work! I am also glad to hear that it went together pretty easily, even though it has some pretty small fiddly bits to it. Isn't it beautiful?! It is ready to give you a bunch of love bites! On another happy note, Victoria got released on Fandom-in-Stitches over the weekend! Another feather in my designing cap! My Tim Burton collection is coming to life!

A Special Thanks

Image
I want to put a special thanks out there to two very special people. Those people are Sharon Garner Powell (Oogie Boogie) and Jeaux Minvielle at JeauxsDesigns.com  (Victoria)! They are the wonderful people who have tested two of my new Tim Burton blocks and lived to tell the tale... and suggest a few changes to make them easier (which are now updated on my site ). That also means I am in the process of submitting the two of them for the Fandom in Stitches site. In appreciation of all those brave souls who try out my patterns, I have made a new " Quilt Gallery " section to my website to showcase those who test/make/show so move for my patterns (shared always with permission).  Again, thank you soooooo much! Thank you for helping me improve and I hope you love what I have created so far... and what I have yet to create in the future!

On a ROLLL!

Image
This isn't going to be a very long post, but I am so happy to finally have some Nightmare Before Christmas up! FINALLY! TNBC is probably my all time favorite movie and the "go to" for any time of year around here. And it makes it really easy to shop for me if you get me in a gift exchange. Anyhoo, here are my two newest creations! Go and down load them !

It's ALIVE... ALIVE!

Image
I don't have much time to write this up, but I just put up 3 fresh and new patterns for your itchy quilting finger. They are all currently part of my growing collection for my Tim Burton quilt blocks. You can now download Victor (Corpse Bride), Emily (Corpse Bride) and Beetlejuice (Beetlejuice Cartoon). I hope more will be coming soon! If you decide to make any of my creations and want to share, I have an area just waiting for content where I can show of your creations! All you have to do is email me .

I haven't died!

Image
This post isn't going to be very long, but I have not abandoned my page! In fact, I have a ton of WIPs that need to be written up and published... I just need to find the time on my computer to do it. Also, I messed up my wrist, so I haven't really been able to do much of anything, even type. Also, if anyone out there tries my patterns and shared their photo/s of their finished work with me.. I have a page all ready to go to showcase your work (and show my eternal gratitude for your hard work and creativity). I just haven't had anyone say "yes to the dress" as it were". As always, if you find anything wrong, errors or edits, please let me know ! I would love to hear your feedback!

Beetlejuice.... Beetlejuice....

Image
This week at work has been pretty dead, so I let my creativity lead me. Growing up, as if you couldn't tell, I LOVED everything a little bit strange and macabre. I watched a ton of Saturday morning type cartoon shows. Most people would probably remember: Animaniacs , Tiny Toons , Histeria , Batman the Animated Series , Reboot ... but one that not a lot of people remember is Beetlejuice . It had a HUGE influence on me. I absolutely LOVE it. It is extremely pun heavy. It had the first ever character that was completely computer generated in a syndicated children's cartoon. The opening credit song still sends chills down my spine umpteen years later. It breaks my heart that it took until 2013 for the complete DVD collection to be released (the show ended in 1991), but you bet your bottom dollar I have it (and my kids love watching it). It is a great show with a lot of heart in it. Seriously, take a look some time. Some day I hope to make myself a poncho based on Lydia...
