Gift Season is Upon Us



I haven't had much time to blog lately because I am elbow deep in a bunch of obligations... the one that particularly pertains to this blog are my X-mas gifts. I decided to go off the deep end and sew up a bunch of Soup Bowl Cozies for just about everyone I know (so if you follow this blog... sorry, I have ruined the surprise for most of you). Work has also gotten really busy, so pattern making has slowed down a bit too.

I had been looking around and found a lot of different patterns. I settled on Happy Hour Stitches because it seemed to be the easiest to just sit down and bang out a bunch of cozies quickly. I got lucky and got a bunch of 100% cotton Halloween fabric on sale, so a lot of these are going to be themed regardless if the recipients like that kinda stuff or not. Beggars cant be choosers.

You can follow my progress on Textilla if you want. I think I am going to be making around 20 of each size (10 inches and 8 inches). I have some smaller ones left over, so I think those are going to be made into hot pads. Cutting all this stuff (even with the help of my kids) has helped me work on my accuracy in cutting, so bonus.

Here are some tips. Don't put them in the microwave without something else (like the thing you are warming up) and DONT STACK THEM! They will start scorching and smoking after about a minute and run the risk of catching fire. Don't do that.



On a side note, I have also been working on knitting hats for my kids... because we got a case of lice in our house. We ended up just shaving everyone and I want my kids to have some warm hats for the winter since they are now little que balls at the moment.

I need to work faster.

What Have I Been Doing?

 Well, I've been up to quite a LOT  (sewing wise). I tried out paper piecing, finally, for two Fallout themed wall hanging:     I made a few thread catchers for my two machines (only took a photo of one though).     I got my tattoo finished (the Ooogie Boogie wall hanging was given to my tattoo artist) I also started on an experimental piece which broke my brain trying to figure out how to do it in both/either Quilting Assistant and/or Electric Quilt. You can take a look at the guide I made to and what I have done so far.   Here is a cute pic of my kitty to make it all okay.

Lots of Updates

I'll try to keep this short, but there are quite a few new things up on the site! First off, I edited the layout (at least if you are not on mobile) so that there isnt as much scrolling involved when searching for a pattern. The pictures are a little bit smaller now, but I think it easier to navigate. Second, I've put up Jacques LaLean and Ginger the Tap Dancing Spider up for the Beetlejuice cartoon blocks. They have a bit more embroidery/outlining than a lot of my other designs (particularly Ginger), but I think that is because of the way they are drawn (ie cartoon). I tried to make them without so much, and they just didn't look right. Also, I put up a Pumpkin from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I based the pattern on a restoration of an actual set piece, so it is pretty darn authentic! It is also a pretty intricate pattern, so if you want a challenge, feel free to try it. Patterning Update

Hi Everybody! Hope this week has treated you well. I am very close to finalizing the pattern for Maggot. I *hope* to post him here this weekend and get him submitted to Fandom in Stitches shortly after that. The tweaks I did to the pattern really didn't change much, but I think the revised construction order will make putting him together much easier. I haven't had much time to work on my other projects this week, which is a bit of a bummer. Sorry. Not my sewing machine... but same model I hope by the time I get home, my new old machine (White Rotary Series 77) will be up and running. My husband was supposed to fix the table while I was at work today so that I can start using it this weekend. I hope. We shall see. Some of the holes that hold the screws for a bracket that supports the weight of the machine while it is in use are stripped (it came to use that way) and needs to be repaired. It is a small fix, but it needs to be done before I can start learning how to use it
